Seventy members of Glasgow & Galloway Mothers’ Union gathered together to offer thanks
and celebrate God’s love for them in St Michael and All Angels Church Helensburgh
on Saturday 19th May. On arrival each member was given a gift made by our vice
president Carolynne – a buttonhole of a single marguerite assembled with delicate
blue ribbon – photograph below.
The Rev David Cook extended a warm welcome at the start of the service at which our
patron +Gregor officiated along with our chaplain Rev Peter Douglas.
The music which was played by Barbara Wenborn was a delight with all members singing
enthusiastically the hymns which included Crown Him with Many Crowns and Angel voices
The whole service was uplifting with a sermon from +Gregor which was both thought
provoking and practical.
Two other special things happened – two new members were welcomed and two new banners
were blessed. The members at Lenzie and Helensburgh have been busy over the last
months designing and composing their banners – photographs attached. Seeing them
raised high was a great sign of commitment and growth. Thanks be to God.
Following the service members enjoyed generous hospitality in a nearby hall.
The members at St Michael and All Angels are to be congratulated on their contribution.
Such events do not happen without much planning and hard work.
