A group is travelling by public bus from Lands End to John O’Groats over seven days in August 2012 to raise awareness of the Mothers’ Union.

On day four of the journey, the group arrived in Scotland, having reached Dumfries on the evening of August 12th.

Members and their friends are encouraged to travel with us and spread the news of our travels. The WWP Rosemary Kempsell is planning to join us on Day Six for the segment from Aberdeen to Inverness.

The bus from Carlisle is due into Dumfries any minute now. . .

Hilary and Linda met Jeanette and Mary on the Whitesands by the River Nith in Dumfries on Sunday August 12th, 2012.  There was a great turnout by members with Scottish balloons waving in the breeze.

Bishop David Chillingworth, Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church, wished the team well.  He commented that is seemed like our own Olympian challenge!

Former Provincial President, Trish sent a message saying she wished she was with them and hoping all goes well.  She’ll be watching progress on the website.

Wonderful flora displays in Glenrothes

14.30 Just been interviewed by Radio Tay. This should go out on their programme tomorrow morning. I’m now thinking of all the things I should have said!

Above and below: The crowd at Dundee!

We were met by a crowd at Dundee.  They were mainly from the Broughty Ferry branch. Three of them joined us for the final trip of the day onto Arbroath. I’ve spoken to a reporter from the Courier (the local daily paper serving Angus and Fife) and had our photo taken.  It should appear in tomorrow’s morning’s edition.

Above three pictures: Broughty Ferry members having coffee at Henry's cafe in Dundee with, in the middle picture, Jean Richardson (Provincial President elect)

Arriving at Arbroath

18.15 Now in Arbroath.  Got a later bus than originally planned between Dundee and Arbroath.  Lots of sleepy people on the bus! We’re ready for our dinner and overnight stop!
