Mothers' Union Elections in Scotland and Worldwide
Current members of the Worldwide Board
for the 2019-2021 Triennium
Every three years the Mothers' Union elects a new Worldwide Board and here in Scotland
we also elect our Provincial President.
There are three elections that involve members from the Province.
- Worldwide President – The Worldwide President chairs the Board of Trustees of our
Parent Charity, the Mothers' Union and leads our worldwide movement. The Provincial
President and the Diocesan Presidents are part of the electoral college for our Worldwide
President. The election process has now been concluded and the result will be announced shortly.
- Zonal Trustee for Zone J (Scotland) – The Zonal Trustee is a member of the Worldwide
Board and the Britain & Ireland Committee. The Provincial President, the Diocesan
Presidents along with up to four additional members from each diocese form the electoral
college for our Zonal Trustee. The election process has also been concluded and the result will be announced soon.
- Provincial President – The Provincial President chairs the Board of Trustees for
the Province and leads the movement in Scotland. The Diocesan Presidents along with
up to four additional members from each diocese form the electoral college for our
Provincial President. The election has now taken place and Deborah Munday, currently Diocesan President for Moray, Ross and Caithness, was duly elected to serve for the 2022 to 2024 triennium.
- Independent Trustees – Our constitution permits the election of up to two Independent
Trustees. These are people who have skills to offer that may not be available amongst
the remaining trustees. The Diocesan Presidents along with up to four additional
members from each diocese form the electoral college for our Provincial President.
The election, if required, is run by the Returning Officer for the Province. There was no election this time.
