A Symbol of Hope
Hope was signified by a cross lit with 16 candles representing the 16 days of action for the Elimination of Violence against women, which includes World Aids Day.
An ecumenical service was held at the church and a staff member for the local Women's Refuge read a story written by a 15 year old boy whose mother and sisters were survivors of abuse.
‘104 Pairs of Shoes’
The branch hosted this YWCA's exhibition, to raise awareness of domestic violence. The shoes represent women from all areas of Scottish society.
- 2 women are killed each week by a partner or former partner
- 1 woman in 10 is currently experiencing domestic abuse
- 1 woman in 4 will experience domestic abuse at some time in her life
