Edinburgh is Scotland’s capital city and seat of the Scottish Parliament and tourist industry. The Diocese stretches down to the borders along the East coast with several holiday resorts.
There are eight branches:
- Christchurch, Falkirk
- Christchurch, Morningside, Edinburgh
- Diocesan Centre
- Livingston Ecumenical
- St. Ebba's, Eyemouth
- St. James the Less, Penicuik
- St. Ninian's, Comely Bank, Edinburgh
- St. Peter's, Musselburgh
Members are involved in volunteer work in many ways, including:
- Supporting parents who unexpectedly have a premature baby by knitting very small baby clothes for the Simpson Maternity Unit, Edinburgh Royal Infirmary
- Fund raising for families from the diocese to have a much needed holiday with the MU scheme 'Away From It All Holidays'
- Giving toilet bags to hospitals for people who have been admitted as an emergency
Members used to run a play area for children whilst their parents visited inmates
at Saughton Prison, Edinburgh, but this is no longer possible. See the MU Diocesan

We are linked through correspondence and prayer with the dioceses of:
- Colombo (Sri Lanka)
- Kurunagala (Sri Lanka)
- Mpwapwa (Tanzania)
- Port Sudan (Sudan)
- Bradford (York, England)
The Mothers' Union played an effective role in providing a Relief Fund grant to Colombo, following the Tsunami of Boxing Day 2004.
